Hi there, I’m Iyanu Gabriel.

I began my career as an accountant but over the years I discovered this path was quite limiting for me. The exciting part of the job was writing my report and sitting with directors to present, answer questions, and make suggestions. Those chats were everything and more.

When I first dabbled into technology, I was practically clueless. However, with time, I realised that my greatest skills shone best in an environment of ordered chaos that encourages scrappiness, ownership, solving wicked problems, end-to-end and objective thinking.

I love building technology products, scaling operations, and making use of technology to drive business growth. Also, I enjoy building customer-led products, using data to answer critical business questions, and subsequently helping societies develop. This has become my obsession in acquiring capabilities across diverse industries that solve the problems of both the present and future.

My past multi-market & industry experiences has been in; finance, consulting, non-profit, e-commerce, extended reality (AR/VR), mobility, and most recently, fin-tech.

Currently, I’m working with an incredibly brilliant group of people who are fanatically devoted to solving the problems faced by millions of Africans. I lead the Operations at an early-stage fintech startup where we are committed to revolutionizing business financing on the continent.

Previously, I’d worked with one of Europe’s leading technology firms – Bolt, where I was responsible mainly for operations, growth & expansion of secondary products. I was part of a 2-man team that successfully launched the first micro-mobility category in West Africa.

In addition, I led product expansion into 6 new cities across Nigeria, developed 3 products, grew operations & GMV by 181% and 3900% respectively. To add, I assisted with launch operations of other verticals like Bolt Food and Bolt Business delivery.

My other interests are reading widely and sharing my thoughts around innovation and technology on my blog; visiting new cities with cultural heritage; helping founders get clarity with their ideas and hopefully being one of the earliest believers (angels).

In my spare time, you will catch me mostly indoors – in the company of great number of books, paintings and/or wine. Other times, outdoors – riding a bike, at the art gallery, taking a long evening walk, or having intense and stimulating conversations on nebulous concepts.

On very rare occasions, you might just run into me at a social gathering – with me trying so hard to escape.
